This policy explains how Astra AI Detector (“Astra”, “we” or “us”) at astradetector.com handles information. The short version: the text you check is analyzed in your browser and is never uploaded or stored by us. The site is free, and to keep it that way it uses standard web analytics and shows advertising served by third parties — both explained below, along with the choices you have.

Astra's AI detector runs entirely in your browser. When you paste or upload text and run a check, the analysis happens on your own device using code loaded into the page. The text you check is not uploaded to our servers, not stored, not logged, and not used to train any model. You can verify this in your browser's developer tools — the Network tab shows no upload of your text — and the detector keeps working after you disconnect from the internet. Because the processing is local, there is no copy of your text for us to keep, share or lose. This covers the AI detector and our other in-browser tools; the AI Humanizer is the one feature that works differently, as explained next.

Like the detector, the AI Humanizer runs entirely inside your browser, on your own device. The AI model that rewrites your text is downloaded to your browser the first time you use the feature — a one-time download of roughly 270 MB, which is then cached — and every rewrite after that happens locally. The text you humanize is never uploaded, sent to a server, or transmitted to any third-party AI provider. There is no network request that contains your text at all.

Because all processing is on-device, we never receive, see, store or profile the text you humanize, and it is not shared with anyone. This makes the AI Humanizer as private as the AI detector. The only network activity the feature needs is the one-time model download, which is fetched from a public model host and contains only the model file — never your text.

Using the AI Humanizer is optional and free. The general site disclosures below (analytics and advertising) still apply to your visit in the usual way, but none of them involve the text you humanize, which stays on your device.

Like most websites, we use analytics — currently Google Analytics, a service provided by Google — to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Analytics may collect standard technical information such as your device and browser type, the pages you visit and how you arrived, approximate (city/country-level) location derived from your IP address, and anonymous usage events. This information is aggregated and is used for statistics and product improvement. It never includes the text you analyze. Google processes this data under its own terms; see Google's privacy policy, and you can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to opt out.

The site displays advertisements served by third-party advertising networks and partners. Those partners — not Astra — select and deliver the ads, and they may use cookies, device identifiers, web beacons and similar technologies to show ads (including personalized ads based on your prior activity), to cap how often you see an ad, and to measure ad performance. Any data they collect is handled under their own privacy policies, not ours.

Important: we do not create, choose, control, endorse or take responsibility for the advertisements shown or for the products, services, offers or websites they promote. An ad appearing on Astra is not a recommendation by us. Any interaction or transaction you have with an advertiser is solely between you and that advertiser, at your own risk, and we are not liable for it.

Your choices: where a consent banner is shown (for example in the EEA, UK or similar regions), you can accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance (aboutads.info), and Your Online Choices (EU), and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Cookies and similar technologies used on the site fall into a few categories: essential (needed for the site to load and function, and to remember your cookie choices), analytics (Google Analytics, as above), and advertising (set by third-party ad networks). Your browser also stores small amounts of local data on your own device to make the tools work and to remember preferences; that local data stays on your device. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser, and decline non-essential cookies where a consent prompt is offered.

We don't require an account, email or payment to use the tools, and we don't store the text you check with the detector — with the detector, the content simply never reaches our servers. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't build our own advertising profiles about you. We don't knowingly combine analytics data with the content you analyze. The one exception to on-device processing is the AI Humanizer, which sends the text you submit to a third-party AI provider as described above; even then, we don't store that text on our servers.

To run and fund a free tool, the site uses a small number of third-party providers, each with its own privacy practices: Google Analytics (usage analytics), third-party advertising networks (to display ads), and content-delivery networks and font providers such as jsDelivr, Cloudflare/cdnjs and Google Fonts (to load code and fonts). When your browser loads resources from these providers, they may receive standard technical information such as your IP address as part of serving the request. They do not receive the text you analyze.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. Under the GDPR / UK GDPR these can include the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability, as well as the right to withdraw consent and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Under US state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA, you may have the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising — and we do not sell personal information. Because we don't hold the text you analyze or an account for you, many requests are best directed to the relevant third party (for example Google for analytics, or an ad network for advertising cookies); we will help where we can. The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party feature on the site, please contact us.

The third-party providers we use (such as Google and advertising networks) may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Those transfers are governed by the providers' own safeguards and privacy policies.
